Who we are

Our website address is: https://paperdollscowboyboots.com
This site was built primarily for subscribers to April’s Substack Site: https://www.paperdolls.today

This site, PaperdollsCowboyBoots.com functions so that members/subscribers of April’s substack site can order the book, at cost or signifinanctly below retail pricing. The book has always been intended to help and support suvivors of sexual assault.

In the decades since Paperdolls was released, the online world has a significant amount of negativity and backlash against helping movements. Many neisayers of providing help and support to survivors have earned a therapeutic term for their actions, called DARVO.

This site is an effort to help survivors receive the book at a significant discount and force the DARVO attackers to pay significantly higher in order to obtain the book.

Paperdolls & Cowboy Boots is the 2014 re-release of Paperedolls: Healing from Sexual Abuse in Mormon Neighborhoods,

Paperdolls & Cowboy Boots contains the entire Paperdolls book published in 1992 and 1993–as well as the true events of the subsequent decades. When contemplating the re-release the authors joked that it would be like the “old and new testament” (no offense to the bible, this is simply an analogy that many of our readers can understand).

We Recommend Professional Therapy injunction with this book

Previously, Paperdolls has triggered many souls. We have received hundreds if not thousands of statements that “this could be my story.”  Since becoming aware of those souls being triggered, April strongly encourages survivors to obtain creditable professional therapy.

April Daniels’ on How to Find a Therapist

When April’s substack was first launched, she received numerous inquires on how to find a therapist. Here is her missive in response to those inquires

Carolyn Hax of the Washington Post provides these suggestions:

How to find a therapist
(Always exercise due diligence in selecting caregivers.)

  • Ask your primary care physician to refer you to someone.
  • Call your health insurance carrier or visit them online to get a list of in-network providers.
  • See if your employer offers an Employee Assistance Program.
  • Use Open Path Collective, a national nonprofit network of therapists providing sessions at reduced rates.
  • Search the listings on Psychology Today.
  • If you or family members have a school affiliation, ask whether its counseling service is available to you or maintains a list of recommended providers of mental health care.
  • Inquire at your religious organization, if appropriate — many faith leaders have counseling credentials.
  •  Contact a local college or university that confers degrees in counseling fields; many have clinics to train their students.
